Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink has been a cornerstone of Miami’s Design District for 17 years, watching the district flourish into a landmark of the Magic City. As it celebrates its 17th anniversary, the restaurant is inviting both loyal guests and new patrons to mark the occasion with a slice of sumptuous cake and a bubbly toast of Champagne. “We deeply appreciate the support and patronage that we have received over these 17 years,” shares chef and restaurateur Michael Schwartz. “Whether you’re a regular or stepping in for the first time, we welcome you to join in our celebrations in March.”

His enduring approach is to ensure genuineness, which involves serving freshly prepared food with a tender touch. The establishment of the restaurant led to the formation of the chef’s Genuine Hospitality Group, which has opened much-loved local eateries, including Amara at Paraiso and Harry’s Pizzeria. An extension of his mindful philosophy at Michael’s Genuine, Chef Schwartz was awarded a James Beard Award in 2010 and secured a 2022 Michelin Bib Gourmand tag for the restaurant. Michael’s Genuine has also been consistently awarded New Times’ “Best Restaurant (Design District/Midtown)” honour, the latest being in 2022. It was additionally featured on our annual list of Miami’s crucial restaurants in 2024.
