QP Tapas Pop-Up Returns to Mayfair House Hotel in Coconut Grove

The Spanish and Izakaya Pivot QP Tapas, a favorite among Miami locals, has once again returned. Its third rendition commences on March 1, Friday, inside the Fountain Lounge at Mayfair House Hotel & Garden in Coconut Grove. Regular patrons can anticipate some signature dishes from QP Tapas, as well as new additions during their stay. Spearheaded by Chef Josh Elliott and his wife, Ellie Groden, QP Tapas earned its reputation for excellent Spanish tapas with Izakaya inclinations. Their journey began at MKT Kitchen in Coral Gables in 2022, then they moved to the Allocation Room last year, finally arriving at Coconut Grove. The couple has amassed a dedicated local following along the way, which has now brought them to the Fountain Lounge. Groden expressed their excitement about being at the Mayfair Hotel, describing it as vibrant, beautiful and full of life, which embodies the essence of QP Tapas, symbolizing both “quality products and quality people”.

Owners of QP Tapas, Chef Josh Elliott and his wife Ellie Groden, conceptualized the pop-up as something to call their own and saw it as an opportunity to follow their culinary passion in a challenging market. “We wanted to release the traditional notion of what a restaurant should be”, shares Groden. They named their iterations as “QP 1.0”, “QP 2.0”, and the latest, “QP 3000”.

What should patrons anticipate from QP 3000? Some classic dishes will remain on the menu, including items from the “Spanish Pantry” like Manzanilla olives, pan con tomate, and boquerones, the crudo options, one of which is a favorite of the chef’s, the tuna tataki. The menu will also include the Berkshire pork tonkatsu with kimchi honey and pickles, which was an instant hit at their last pop-up, alongside a smoked heritage chicken, which according to the chef, has a flavor reminiscent of the popular paella from the pop-up.

The pop-up will also bring its cocktail menu to the lounge, featuring cocktails such as “Basque Bamboo”, “Bangin’ on the Sidewalk”, “Bittersweet Symphony”, and “MSG in a Bottle.” For a classic cocktail with a twist, guests can try the “Koji Manhattan”, or choose from a selection of wines and beer. Non-alcoholic options include “Josh Collins” and “Easy Livin'”. While the pop-up starts on March 1, Friday, the end date is yet to be confirmed. Elliot is hopeful that their pop-up will thrive and remain operational until the summer.
