The newly opened Mexican steakhouse in Miami, Casa Matilda, quickly earned its place as a meeting point for celebrities since its first day on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach. The grand opening on January 25 was marked with a private dinner party for the stars of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Miami, such as Nicole Martin, Adriana de Moura, Kiki Barth, and Guerdy Abraira. Also present were ABC’s The Bachelor stars Hannah Ann Sluss and Kelsey Weier, as well as Sports Illustrated model Kelly Hughes.

What makes Casa Matilda unique? To start, its cozy ambiance and capacity of 150 seats, which includes a private area for 16 quiet dining guests and a yet-to-be-revealed terrace. The menu combines fine dining with genuine Mexican flavors—duck carnitas tacos served on blue corn tortillas, a distinctive Yucatan-style ceviche, an exquisite 32-ounce, dry-aged porterhouse, and delightful crab-stuffed enchiladas. The wine list is vast, offering over 120 options, and a special tequila-based cocktail menu.
Casa Matilda’s originator, Kathia Joseph, also owns two more restaurants in Miami Beach. She describes the opening of Casa Matilda as an amalgamation of her devotion and hard work. As a Black female entrepreneur, she draws her motivation from her humility, pride, and her daughter’s continuous support.
